Growing Progressive Power

About

Passion. Experience. Excellence.

About Me

After looking up “peace” in the phone book, I began my activism as a high school student. For more than 25 years, I have worked as an organizer and educator in unions and community groups for racial justice, LGBTQ rights, and worker power. I am passionate about movement-building, grassroots leadership development, and supporting youth as leaders.

Growing up in a working-class household, our family’s life transformed when my dad got a union job. As a kid and as an organizer, I’ve experienced the impact and witnessed the power of regular people uniting with courage, determination, and strategy. In all that I do, I hold fast to the belief that everyday people have the power to build a just and nonviolent world.

I live on my family’s farm in Eastern Washington, where I love time with my kids, the quiet of the prairie, caring and committed fellow organizers, and the excellent coffeeshops of downtown Spokane.
